Withered Chica – Our very own viral sensation!
Have you or your teen ever faced the creepy jump-scares of Five Nights at Freddy’s? Well then, you probably know Withered Chica – one of the game’s most infamous animatronics.
What you might not know is that the haunting voice behind this fan-favourite character belongs to our awesome American voice actor Darbi Worley.
Darbi isn’t a gamer herself, so she was FLOORED when she accidentally discovered just how famous her character has become – we’re talking more than 4 million views on her TikTok kind of famous! Here’s the story in Darbi’s own words:
I kind of had an inkling that she was a popular character because every now and then a fan will track me down to ask for an autograph or something!
One fan in particular has really been encouraging me to interact with the fandom more so, on a total whim, I posted a TikTok of me lipsynching one of my lines from the game.
When I started creating the post, I saw that the audio from the game was already in the TikTok music library. I thought, “Huh…that’s interesting.” When I finished the video and went to hashtag it, I noticed that #witheredchica had been used thousands of times. I hit “post” and went out to dinner…
“If I had a nickle for every kid who has now confessed that I gave them nightmares, I’d be able to retire!”
Keep in mind I had not used TikTok since Covid and had only 60 followers on the app! After dinner, I checked the post and saw that it had been viewed about 3000 times. Again, I thought, “Huh….that’s interesting.” When I woke up the next day, it had been seen over 30,000 times and I suddenly had thousands of followers. I thought, “WOW THAT IS INTERESTING!”
As of today, that video has 2.1 MILLION views! A fan then asked me to do the Jet2 Holiday meme in Chica’s voice and now THAT video has over 2 million views. I just hit over 30,000 followers and am gaining hundreds every day. It’s WILD.”
