Artist Bio
Valia’s first experience on stage involved an ancient Greek costume, a very long white sheet and an unfortunately placed foot. She stepped on said sheet almost immediately and made her theatrical debut in her underwear. Thankfully, it didn’t put her off performing.
Growing up in Athens surrounded by ancient Greek theatre, Valia became fascinated by ensemble, chorus and all the different ways a story could be told. That fascination eventually brought her to the UK, where she trained on the MA Acting course at East 15 Acting School, graduating with distinction.
Her voice work has taken her from commercials on Greek radio to becoming the voice of Thessaloniki’s Big Bus Tour. Her natural accent is a distinctive international and transatlantic hybrid, with the ability to lean towards Southeast English or Greek when needed. She’s also multilingual, with some Arabic, French and Spanish alongside Greek and English.
Valia’s creativity stretches well beyond the booth. With a first degree in International Relations and Arabic, her work as a theatre-maker explores intersectional feminism and migration through surrealism and physicality. She’s the co-founder of Lemon Shed, whose production BAR enjoyed sold-out runs, and has toured Europe for ten months playing Juliet in Romeo and Juliet. Her acting work also includes projects with the Young Vic, Kiln Theatre, Arcola Theatre, Bush Theatre, the United Nations, ActionAid and The Children’s Society.
She’s also a writer and experienced mover, having danced with E33 Dance Company at the Royal Academy of Dance and completed a dance residency in Goa. Her writing has been commissioned by the EU, and her first film as a writer was selected as part of the Cinema and Human Rights course at the Venice Film Festival in 2026.
