Artist Bio

Eight shows a week in the West End? All in a day’s work for Helen.
One of Britain’s best-known comedy character actresses, Helen has spent her career making people laugh across just about every medium going. Her work spans stand-up, sitcoms, drama, theatre, television and radio presenting, alongside writing, all tied together by her unmistakable wit and observational humour.

Helen’s comedy career began at London’s famous Comedy Store before she went on to create the memorable “girl at the bar” in BBC’s Naked Video. Then came one of her most recognisable roles, Catriona, the gloriously ditzy journalist in BBC’s Absolutely Fabulous. Across the years, Helen has appeared in many of Britain’s best-known television comedy and radio shows, establishing herself as a familiar face, voice and character performer.

More recently, she’s swapped the television studio for the West End stage, performing in Fawlty Towers eight times a week. Because apparently one or two shows simply wouldn’t do.

When she’s not on stage, Helen continues to put her quick wit to work as a presenter, currently hosting her own live pod show Eff It, alongside her sidekick Jay McGuinness.

From stand-up stages and sitcom sets to radio studios and the West End, Helen has made a career out of finding the funny in just about everything. And thankfully, she shows no signs of stopping.
