Artist Bio
Maurice didn’t plan on a life in performance – until a voice lecturer heard the “weird noises” he was making at uni and told him they might actually be a gift. One unexpected conversation later, he’d swapped engineering for a career that now spans opera, theatre, TV and voiceover.
Born in New Zealand to Chinese parents and now based in Australia, Maurice has performed with Opera Australia, sung with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and appeared on screen in Paramount+ Australia’s Fake, ABC’s The Newsreader (Season 3), and an upcoming Apple TV drama. Versatile doesn’t quite cover it — he moves from classical elegance to comedic chaos without missing a beat.
In the VO world, Maurice brings crisp delivery, emotional clarity and a spark of mischief to everything from commercials and corporate campaigns to narration, animation, gaming and film. Years of accent mimicry certainly help, as does the work ethic he learned growing up in his family’s restaurant from the age of nine.
When he’s not performing, he’s experimenting in the kitchen – perfecting pasta, refining sweet and sour pork and insisting, with full confidence, that he invented pavlova.
